Light of Life Trust Launches International Virtual Marathon 2025 to Empower Rural Youth

On the occasion of its 20th anniversary, Light of Life Trust (LOLT), a popular non-profit dedicated to uplifting rural communities in India, has announced the LOLT International Virtual Marathon 2025. This global virtual event, set to take place from August 15 to 17, 2025, invites participants from around the world to run or walk and raise awareness for children's education in rural India.

Uniting the World for Education

With the impactful theme “I Run, They Learn,” the LOLT International Virtual Marathon 2025 brings together passionate individuals and running enthusiasts to support the cause of preventing school dropouts in India. According to Light of Life Trust, more than 42 million children drop out of secondary schools in rural India each year. Participants can run or walk any distance — ranging from 2 km to a half-marathon — anywhere in the world, at their convenience, during the event window (August 15 to 17, 2025). 

Registration amounts will directly fund educational initiatives for underprivileged children, with a mission to send 1,000 children back to school this year. After completing their run, participants can upload proof and selfies to receive special e-certificates, share their stories on social media, and amplify the message using hashtags like #LOLT #LOLTRunForEducation and #RunForEducation

Light of Life Trust’s Mission and Impact

Founded by Ms. Villy Doctor in 2002, Light of Life Trust has transformed over 600,000 lives across 1,500 villages, focusing on education, skill development, and empowerment of single-parent, tribal, neglected, and orphan children. The organisation operates 93 centres nationwide, with programs like Project Anando focused on holistic child development—providing free educational materials, coaching, personality development workshops, and vocational guidance. 

The marathon forms part of LOLT’s broader initiatives, including collaborations with corporates and acknowledgement as a Diamond Category NGO at the 2025 Tata Mumbai Marathon.
