Mumbai, 28 August 2025: LIC Housing Finance Ltd. (LIC HFL), in collaboration with the Government of Maharashtra and Wockhardt Foundation, has launched the Sanjeevani – Blood Group Registry App under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme. The initiative aims to strengthen Maharashtra’s blood donation ecosystem by enhancing transparency, minimizing shortages, and creating a reliable donor registry.
The app was inaugurated at Aarogya Bhavan, Mumbai, by Shri Prakashrao Abitkar, Hon’ble Minister of Public Health & Family Welfare, Government of Maharashtra, in the presence of officials from LIC HFL and the State Blood Transfusion Council (SBTC). With the support of the state government and SBTC, the app is set for adoption across blood banks in Maharashtra.
The Sanjeevani App is designed to tackle key challenges in blood donation and transfusion by creating a registry of donors aged 18–65, providing real-time visibility of demand and supply, reducing mismatches in transfusions, and ensuring better communication between donors, hospitals, and blood banks. Over the next three years, the initiative is expected to reach around six crore beneficiaries across the state, directly impacting about two crore people annually.
Speaking on the launch, Shri Tribhuwan Adhikari, MD & CEO of LIC Housing Finance Limited, said, “Through Sanjeevani, we aim to bridge a critical gap in Maharashtra’s healthcare system by using technology to connect donors, hospitals, and blood banks more effectively. This initiative reflects LIC HFL’s long-standing commitment to community development and saving lives through meaningful CSR interventions.”
The project has been sanctioned under LIC HFL’s CSR funds for FY 2023-24 and will run until March 2027. Implementation began in April 2024, with funding linked to milestone achievements and outreach targets. To increase participation, awareness campaigns will be rolled out during Ganesh Chaturthi through colleges, NSS units, and DLLE networks.
The collaboration between LIC HFL, the Government of Maharashtra, and Wockhardt Foundation marks a step toward creating a technology-driven, sustainable, and community-focused healthcare solution.
