Ladli Foundation Launches Africa Chapter in Johannesburg

South Africa, May 12, 2026: Ladli Foundation has officially launched its Africa chapter, Ladli Foundation Africa, during an inauguration ceremony held at the Country Club Johannesburg. The event was inaugurated by Harish Kumar in the presence of diplomats, business leaders, philanthropists, entrepreneurs, and members of the Indian diaspora.

The ceremony was attended by Devendra Kumar, Founder of Ladli Foundation, along with representatives from the social development and business sectors. The event was followed by a gala dinner hosted by the Ladli Foundation Africa team to encourage dialogue on humanitarian cooperation, sustainable development, women empowerment, youth leadership, and social partnerships between India and African nations.

Addressing the gathering, Consul General Shri Harish Kumar acknowledged the organisation’s contribution to social development and its efforts to strengthen humanitarian and cultural ties between India and Africa.

Speaking at the event, Devendra Kumar said, “Ladli Foundation believes in humanity beyond boundaries. Our mission is to stand with the vulnerable and marginalized irrespective of their religion, race, or region. The launch of Ladli Foundation Africa is a step towards creating a compassionate global society based on the Indian philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.”

Founded in India, Ladli Foundation works in areas including women empowerment, child welfare, public health, education, mental wellness, sustainable development, and human rights for marginalised communities. According to the organisation, it has impacted over 3.2 million beneficiaries through grassroots programmes, awareness campaigns, policy advocacy, and community-led initiatives.

The organisation also holds Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) for its work in social development and humanitarian initiatives.

The launch of Ladli Foundation Africa is expected to support Indo-African collaboration in areas such as social innovation, healthcare access, youth leadership, sustainable community development, and gender equality.

The event was organised under the leadership of Mr. Shameem Baksh, Executive Director of Ladli Foundation Africa, along with Director Ms. Marsha Piaray and Ms. Komla Naidoo. The organisers said the initiative aims to engage local communities, entrepreneurs, and social stakeholders in humanitarian and development-focused programmes across the region.

The event concluded with discussions around strengthening international partnerships and promoting citizen-led social initiatives for inclusive and sustainable development.
