Jindal Stainless Integrates ESG Risk into Supplier Management

New Delhi, September 9, 2026: Jindal Stainless has deployed SAP Ariba Supplier Risk with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) risk capabilities to integrate ESG risk assessment and monitoring into its supplier management processes.

The deployment introduces a technology-enabled framework for assessing, monitoring and managing supplier risks within the company’s Business ERP platform. It builds on Jindal Stainless’ existing supplier risk assessment practices, moving from periodic and largely manual assessments to a digital model with continuous monitoring and greater visibility of risk indicators.

With ESG indicators embedded in supplier profiles, procurement teams can identify potential risk signals earlier and use structured information for sourcing, governance and compliance decisions. The system covers key stages of the supplier lifecycle, including onboarding, sourcing and award-related decisions.

Managing Director, Jindal Stainless, Mr Abhyuday Jindal, said, “Digital transformation and sustainability have become critical pillars in building resilient and responsible businesses. At Jindal Stainless, we are using technology not only to strengthen operational efficiency, but also to embed greater transparency, accountability and environmental focus across our value chain. This approach brings together our digital and sustainability priorities to create stronger systems of governance and enable more informed, responsible business decisions.”

The implementation includes supplier risk classification, questionnaire-based ESG evaluation, risk scoring, continuous monitoring of risk signals and structured visibility for procurement stakeholders.

Manish Prasad, President and Managing Director, SAP Indian Subcontinent, said, “The future competitiveness of India's industrial sector will increasingly depend on the resilience, transparency, and sustainability of its supply chains. Organizations that can effectively embed ESG considerations into operational decisions will be better positioned to navigate evolving stakeholder expectations and regulatory requirements. Jindal Stainless' deployment of SAP Ariba Supplier Risk demonstrates how digital technologies can help enterprises transform supplier risk management from a periodic exercise into a continuous, intelligence-led process that drives long-term business value.”

The platform provides a centralised interface for suppliers to share risk-related information, submit documents and provide updates. As part of the initiative, Jindal Stainless will also conduct supplier awareness and training workshops, with support for identifying areas for improvement and developing corrective action plans based on ESG risk profiles.

The company said the engagement will also support suppliers, including MSMEs, in understanding their ESG performance and preparing for evolving sustainability expectations.
