Jagruti Rehabilitation Centre Raises ₹28 Crore in Series A Funding

Pune, October 29, 2026: Jagruti Rehabilitation Centre, an Indian provider of mental health, addiction and dementia care services, has raised ₹28 crore in Series A funding led by Alkemi Growth Capital, a Delhi-based venture capital fund focused on healthcare and consumer wellness. The investment marks Jagruti’s first institutional funding round, following years of expansion funded through internal accruals.

Founded in 2008, Jagruti plans to use the funds to expand into new locations, increase clinical and staffing capacity, develop specialised care programmes and strengthen its insurance and corporate partnerships. Over the next three to four years, the organisation aims to grow its network to more than 40 centres and 4,000 beds across Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities.

The investment comes amid increasing demand for structured rehabilitation and mental healthcare services in India. The sector remains fragmented, with services often delivered through standalone clinics and smaller independent facilities. Jagruti’s expansion plans focus on building an organised network with consistent clinical standards.

Commenting on the funding, Dr. Amar Shinde, Founder & Director, Jagruti Rehabilitation Centre, said, “This first institutional investment is an important milestone in Jagruti's journey. When we started in 2008, our focus was on creating a space where individuals and families could access structured, compassionate and clinically guided care. Over the years, that vision has grown into a wider network serving people across the country. This funding gives us the opportunity to build on that foundation and make quality rehabilitation and mental healthcare accessible to many more individuals and families across India.”

Alka Goel, Founder and Managing Partner, Alkemi Growth Capital, said, “Mental health is one of the largest and least institutionalised gaps in Indian healthcare. Jagruti has built a trusted brand in mental health, rehabilitation and elder care by delivering psychiatrist-led care to a consistent clinical standard, at prices middle-income families can afford. Before taking any outside capital, Jagruti had already replicated that model across nine cities with a professional management team behind it. That is the hardest part of building a healthcare services platform, and Dr. Amar, Hemant and their team have done it. We believe that Jagruti can become the leading healthcare delivery single specialty chain in India’s mental health, rehab, and elder care segment.”

Jagruti was founded in Pune by psychiatrist Dr. Amar Shinde and Ms. Vijaya Shinde. It began as a 10-bed centre and expanded its operations over the years. In 2019, Hemant Shinde joined as Co-founder and CEO, leading the organisation’s transition towards a professionally managed network.

Jagruti now operates more than 19 centres across nine cities, including Pune, Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru and Chennai. The organisation has more than 1,600 beds and over 40 doctors. According to the company, it has supported more than 82,000 individuals through programmes covering mental health, addiction and substance use, and neurological care.

The investment also expands Alkemi Growth Capital’s presence in healthcare delivery and related segments. Its portfolio includes Redcliffe Labs in diagnostics, Medvital in medical devices, Datar Cancer Genetics in in-vitro diagnostics (IVD) deep technology, Medulance in emergency medical response, Alphadroid in autonomous mobility robots, and Leumas in physical AI for pharmaceutical manufacturing. Jagruti is Alkemi’s first investment in the mental health and rehabilitation segment of healthcare delivery.

With the new funding, Jagruti plans to expand its geographic reach and care capacity while continuing to develop its mental healthcare and rehabilitation services.
