Chennai, February 13, 2026: India Yamaha Motor Pvt. Ltd. (IYM) has inaugurated a comprehensive Road Safety Project near its Chennai plant in collaboration with the Sriperumbudur District Administration. The initiative is aimed at strengthening traffic management systems and enhancing commuter safety along the state highway corridor.

The project focuses on improving road safety infrastructure through the deployment of advanced surveillance and monitoring systems. As part of the initiative, 12 Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras have been installed across four critical locations, along with CCTV cameras positioned at 60 strategic points in Sriperumbudur and surrounding areas. These systems are intended to improve traffic monitoring, deter unlawful activities, and support enforcement agencies.

To further support traffic regulation, the project includes the provision of 13 police barricades and the installation of three high-mast lights along the state highway to enhance visibility during night-time travel. The combined measures are expected to strengthen overall road discipline and create a safer commuting environment for motorists and pedestrians.

The inauguration ceremony, held on February 12, 2026, was attended by Mr. Atsushi Nagashima, Corporate Director, India Yamaha Motor Pvt. Ltd., along with other Yamaha officials and senior officers from the Sriperumbudur District Administration.

The initiative forms part of Yamaha’s broader Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitment. The Yamaha Motor Group’s sustainability framework is built on four key pillars—Health, Education, Environment, and Road Safety—with the current project reinforcing its focus on preventive safety measures and community welfare.

Through this collaboration, India Yamaha Motor aims to support local authorities in creating safer road infrastructure while contributing to long-term community development in and around its operational areas.
