Himachal, November 20, 2025: IIT Mandi has announced a donation of over USD 86,000 (approximately Rs. 75 lakh) from US-based philanthropists Mr. Satish Agrawal and Ms. Kamlesh Agrawal to establish the “Satish and Kamlesh Agrawal Charitable Fund, Houston, Texas, USA.” The contribution will support a range of developmental initiatives at the institute, including scholarships, travel grants, research, infrastructure development, and smart classroom facilities.
The fund will operate as a sustainable endowment, where only up to 90% of the annual interest income will be utilized, while the principal amount remains intact for long-term financial sustainability. A Committee for Execution (CE) comprising IIT Mandi faculty members will oversee fund allocation, project selection and reinvestment.
Prof. Laxmidhar Behera, Director, IIT Mandi, expressed appreciation to the donors for their generosity and commitment to advancing higher education and innovation.
The collaboration was facilitated by the IIT Roorkee Foundation (IITRF), USA. IIT Mandi acknowledged the IITRF Board of Directors for forwarding 100% of donor contributions to Indian institutions, with board members personally bearing all operational expenses.

Donor Mr. Satish Agrawal stated, “This contribution is dedicated to promoting education, research, and community welfare through IIT Mandi. It reflects our belief in creating lasting societal impact through knowledge and innovation.”
IIT Mandi noted that the endowment will help strengthen ongoing efforts to support students, expand academic resources, and drive innovation-led development.
