“As we celebrate the 25th Convocation of IIIT-B, I take great pride in recognizing the exceptional accomplishments of the graduating Class of 2025. This cohort has demonstrated extraordinary talent and dedication across frontier areas... In their diversity lies their strength, and in their unity of purpose, they exemplify the values of integrity, excellence, and community that define IIIT-B,” said Prof. Debabrata Das.
A notable achievement this year included an iMTech student receiving a record placement package of ₹1.45 crore. Additionally, 14 students secured annual offers exceeding ₹60 lakh, 67 students received over ₹40 lakh, and more than 180 students were placed with packages above ₹20 lakh per annum.
The convocation also spotlighted IIIT-Bangalore’s pioneering efforts in Digital Public Infrastructure. At a press conference, Prof. Das announced the expanding impact of the Centre for Digital Public Infrastructure (CDPI), a global non-profit arm of the institute. CDPI has provided technology architecture support to more than 60 countries and is helping governments deploy user-centric data-sharing systems.
Among its major contributions is MOSIP (Modular Open Source Identity Platform), developed at IIIT-B, which has issued over 136 million digital IDs and is projected to impact over 950 million people globally. “It is a proud moment for all of us to know that MOSIP is a homegrown R&D product from India to the world… At IIIT-B, we are honoured to serve as a lighthouse institution, championing India’s expertise in open digital systems,” Prof. Das stated.
The institute has also developed INJI, a privacy-centric data exchange platform, adopted by four countries. Other initiatives include the Centre for Open Societal Systems (COSS), and collaborative projects like A4I (AI Innovation and Inclusion Initiative) with Microsoft Philanthropies, and the E-Health Research Centre’s contribution to Tele-MANAS in partnership with NIMHANS.
Looking ahead, the institute has approved ₹817 crore for a new East Campus, further expanding its academic and research infrastructure. IIIT-B also received the International Green University Award for the third consecutive year in recognition of its sustainability practices.
With consistent top placements, global collaborations, and pioneering research in digital systems, IIIT-Bangalore continues to shape the future of technology and societal transformation from its base in India’s tech capital.
