Kolkata, 2 June, 2020: In a bid to provide relief to those affected by cyclone Amphan, ICICI Bank announced a support of Rs 4 crore. Of this, the Bank has contributed Rs 3 crore to the West Bengal State Disaster Management Authority and has committed to distribute essential food supplies like rice, pulses, oil among others, worth Rs. 1 crore in the districts impacted by the cyclone. These districts are North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas, Purba Medinipur, Howrah and Hooghly.
On Tuesday, senior officials of the bank handed over the cheque to Chief Secretary of Government of West Bengal Rajiva Sinha at Nabanna. Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Finance, Government of West Bengal H.K. Dwivedi was also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Zonal Head - Retail, West Bengal, ICICI Bank Akash Raghav said, "Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of West Bengal in this hour of need. We, at ICICI Bank, are committed to assist the people of West Bengal and give them a helping hand to recover from this natural calamity through our humble initiatives as well as in solidarity and partnership with the state government."

Cyclone Amphan has affected several districts in West Bengal. It includes East Medinipur, South 24 Parganas, North 24 Parganas and Kolkata districts in the state. At least 80 people have lost their lives due the cyclone which destroyed around 10.2 Lakh houses. There are reports highlighting other losses like crops and farmland due to ingress of sea water and flooding. Primary government reports indicate that 1.36 crore people have been affected all over the state spanning over 21,560 square kilometer of land. Odisha, neighboring state has also witnessed loss of life and property due to the cyclone.
