Mumbai, December 11, 2025: Honeywell has been selected by Fitzroy River Water, part of the Rockhampton Regional Council in Central Queensland, to support the digital transformation and automation of key water treatment facilities. The upgrade is part of the Council’s long-term infrastructure improvement programme aimed at improving water and sewerage services across the region.

Rockhampton depends on Fitzroy River Water to supply essential services to households, businesses and industries. To meet rising demand, the utility is increasing its infrastructure capacity from 50,000 to 75,000 equivalent persons (EP). Honeywell’s technology will support this expansion by enhancing operational reliability, improving cybersecurity and extending asset life at the Glenmore Water Treatment Plant and North Rockhampton Sewage Treatment Plant.

As part of the project, Honeywell will deploy its Experion Process Knowledge System (PKS) SCADA R530, a software-based system that enables secure remote monitoring and control. The technology will allow operators at Glenmore to manage the North Rockhampton facility through a single interface, enabling faster adjustments, reducing unplanned downtime and improving service quality for consumers.

Ravikrishnan Srinivasan, General Manager Asia Pacific, Honeywell Process Solutions, said, “This project reflects how digital technologies are helping modernize essential infrastructure. Through the Experion PKS SCADA platform, we enable utilities like Fitzroy River Water to improve operational efficiency, enhance system security and strengthen the reliability of water services for their communities. These same capabilities are helping organizations across energy, resources, and manufacturing operate with more energy efficiency and safely, as they modernize their critical assets.”

The deployment marks a continuation of Honeywell’s 30-year collaboration with Fitzroy River Water, which has focused on adopting advanced control and automation systems to ensure safe and reliable water services in the region.

Honeywell’s Experion PKS SCADA technology is used globally to help industries improve visibility, reduce downtime and strengthen cybersecurity. Its scalable architecture supports operators in advancing digitalisation while meeting goals related to safety, reliability and energy efficiency.

The project further reinforces Honeywell’s role in supporting the modernisation of Australia’s water sector and its broader efforts to advance industrial digitalisation across energy, resources and manufacturing.
