Andhra Pradesh, August 05, 2025: Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages (HCCB), one of India’s major FMCG companies, has launched a comprehensive set of community development initiatives in Chittoor district under its flagship CSR program, Project SHINE. These initiatives were inaugurated by Shri Satya Kumar Yadav, Hon’ble Minister of Health, Family Welfare, and Medical Education, Government of Andhra Pradesh, at a public event attended by local officials, beneficiaries, and community members.
The initiatives cover a range of areas including healthcare access, school sanitation, drinking water availability, women’s skill development, and sustainable waste management. In his remarks at the event, Shri Satya Kumar Yadav said, “I commend Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages for their strong commitment to community development in Andhra Pradesh. Their focus on crucial areas like healthcare accessibility, sanitation, and skill development directly contributes to our shared goal of a self-reliant Andhra Pradesh. Their initiatives directly align with our government's focus on rural health, women's empowerment, and sustainable waste management. By upgrading our Public Health Centres (PHC), enhancing access to clean drinking water, and actively supporting self-help groups, HCCB is directly improving the well-being of our people. I am confident that such strong partnerships will continue to deliver impactful and long-lasting benefits to our beloved Andhra Pradesh.”
Under the health component, HCCB has conducted medical camps in multiple villages—Chowdepalle, Santhipuram, Thavanampalle, Palasamudram, Bugga Agraharam, and Baireddipalle—and upgraded five Public Health Centres (PHCs) with modern medical equipment. The facilities now include hydraulic OT tables, OT headlights, multipara monitors, and vertical autoclaves to support surgical and emergency care. Toilets have also been constructed at PHCs in Chowdepalle and Palasamudram to improve sanitation infrastructure.
In the education sector, the company has built a new toilet block at ZPHS Nanjampeta to improve hygiene for students. Additionally, ten solar lights were installed in Bangarupalam village to enhance community safety and promote the use of renewable energy.
Project SHINE also emphasizes economic inclusion and skill-building for women. HCCB distributed sewing machines to Self-Help Groups (SHGs) in Thondamanadu, PR Kandriga, Akkurthi, and Challapalem and is conducting training sessions in Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH), Sales & Marketing, and Digital & Financial Literacy to improve women’s employability and entrepreneurship opportunities.
Drinking water accessibility has been enhanced with the installation of a water filtration unit in Akkurthi, Tirupati, and an RO unit in Cherlopalli. Furthermore, electric vehicles for waste collection have been donated to Gram Panchayats in Challapalem, Kapugunneri, and Thondaman Puram to strengthen sustainable waste management efforts.
Himanshu Priyadarshi, Chief Public Affairs, Communications, and Sustainability Officer at HCCB, said, “At HCCB, we are committed to strengthening communities through initiatives that directly address their most critical challenges. Through our community partnership programmes, we focus on improving public healthcare infrastructure, access to safe drinking water, skill development, enabling digital education, and creating livelihood opportunities to ensure a better quality of life for the communities we serve. We appreciate the support of the government and look forward to continuing our investment in Andhra Pradesh’s future.”
As part of its broader engagement, HCCB has also partnered with the Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) to train over 7,650 youth across seven districts, surpassing its initial target of 5,000.
Project SHINE, operating under five thematic pillars, continues to impact over 2 lakh individuals across the state through health, education, livelihood, sanitation, and sustainability initiatives.
