Mumbai, October 13, 2025: Hinduja Renewables Energy Private Limited (HREPL), part of the diversified Hinduja Group, has announced the appointment of Deepak Thakur as its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, effective October 1, 2025.
With over three decades of experience across renewable energy, infrastructure, industrial products, and electronics, Thakur brings deep expertise in leading large-scale businesses and projects across the full renewable energy value chain. His experience spans solar, wind, energy storage, and hybrid systems, covering project development, engineering, procurement and construction (EPC), operations and maintenance (O&M), upstream technology, manufacturing, and asset monetisation through Infrastructure Investment Trusts (InvITs).
Prior to joining Hinduja Renewables, he held senior leadership roles at several leading organizations, including Mahindra Group, Reliance, Sterling & Wilson, L&T, Honeywell, and Thermax. Thakur succeeds Sumit Pandey, who has stepped down from his position.

A strong advocate of clean energy and sustainability, Thakur contributed to the formulation of India’s National Solar Thermal Policy in 2009, helping lay the foundation for the country’s clean energy roadmap. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pune and an MBA from the Symbiosis Institute of Business Management.
