Bengaluru, March 16, 2026: Himalaya Wellness Company has launched the ‘Namma Swachha Adakamaranahalli Grama Panchayat’ initiative to strengthen sustainable waste management practices across three villages—Adakamaranahalli, Makali and Harokyathanahalli—near Bengaluru. The initiative is being implemented in collaboration with local Panchayat officials and the NGO Let’s Be The Change.

The project aims to transform the Adakamaranahalli Gram Panchayat into a clean, healthy and zero-dump community by building a circular waste management system that encourages waste segregation, community participation and improved waste collection infrastructure.

The inaugural event was held on March 14, 2026, at the Himalaya Wellness campus in Makali. The launch was attended by Panchayat leaders, including E. Krishnappa, former MLC, along with employees and the leadership team of Himalaya Wellness Company.

As part of the launch, a plog run was organised around Makali village, where community members and Himalaya employees participated in collecting and segregating dry waste. The event also marked the beginning of door-to-door awareness campaigns aimed at educating residents about proper waste segregation practices.

Speaking about the initiative, KG Umesh, Director-Human Resources, Himalaya Wellness Company, said, “At Himalaya Wellness Company, we believe that the health of our communities is linked to the well-being of the environment. With the Namma Swachha Adakamaranahalli initiative, we aim to promote sustainable practices at the grassroots level. By working with local leadership and community partners, the initiative encourages people to practice responsible waste management and waste segregation practices. We can thereby collectively work towards creating a positive change in our villages to make them a healthier place to live.”

The project will be implemented over a six-month period, covering more than 3,000 households and nearby commercial establishments in the Panchayat area. The initiative will involve the distribution of dustbin kits, awareness programmes and the development of systems to ensure consistent waste segregation and collection.

A central waste collection kiosk will also be established within the Panchayat to facilitate the collection of segregated waste from households and businesses. The initiative aims to demonstrate how effective community engagement and local governance can contribute to sustainable waste management practices.

Anirudh S. Dutt, Founder and CEO, Let’s Be The Change, said, “In many communities, waste management breaks down simply because there is no consistent system for collection and segregation at the local level. What makes initiatives like this meaningful is the opportunity to work closely with residents and local leaders to build simple, workable solutions that fit the realities of village life. With the support of Himalaya Wellness Company and the Panchayat, we aim to demonstrate that when communities are involved from the start, even small behavioral shifts can lead to cleaner streets, healthier surroundings, and a more sustainable way of managing waste.”

Through this initiative, Himalaya Wellness and its partners aim to develop Adakamaranahalli as a model Panchayat showcasing effective waste management and circular economy practices that can potentially be replicated in other rural communities.
