Pune, October 27, 2026: Henkel India has inaugurated a Skill Development Centre at Navkshitij in Marunji, Pune, to support STEM education and vocational training for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The initiative is part of the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts focused on inclusion and skill development.

The centre will cater to individuals aged 10 years and above and is equipped with machinery and facilities for practical, hands-on learning. Training activities include plate making, camphor making, incense stick making, laundry and ironing, as well as the preparation of diyas and pots using different moulds. The facility also includes a solar installation.

Alongside STEM education, the initiative focuses on developing practical and life skills to help participants build confidence, improve independence and engage in productive activities. The programme aims to address the need for continued learning and skill development beyond traditional classroom education, supporting participants in taking a more active role in society.

Speaking at the inauguration, Nilesh R Adkar, Head Product Development – General Manufacturing & Maintenance, Henkel Adhesive Technologies, IMEA, said, “Every individual deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and contribute meaningfully to society. Through our partnership with Navkshitij, we are creating a platform that nurtures skills, confidence, and self-reliance for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We hope this center will empower participants to explore their abilities, unlock new opportunities, and lead more fulfilling lives.”

In addition to vocational training, the newly developed hall will provide space for cultural programmes, creative activities, community gatherings and group engagement sessions. The facility is intended to offer an inclusive environment where participants can learn, collaborate, express themselves and develop social connections.

The inauguration was attended by Dr. Prasad Khandagale, Henkel CSR Committee Member and Pune Site Head; regional managers Pradeepkumar Verma, Dr. Mihir Patel and Dr. Mayur Chaudhary; and other Henkel employees. Representatives from Navkshitij, including trustees Mrs. Smita Shetty, Pandurang Alurkar, Balasaheb Wayal and Prathmesh Gad, were also present, along with students and other beneficiaries.

The partnership brings together Henkel India’s CSR efforts and Navkshitij’s work to provide learning and skill-development opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
