Gurugram-based climate technology startup Prithu has raised Rs 10 crore in a seed funding round led by Transition VC, marking a significant step in its efforts to scale carbon removal solutions in India and beyond.
The company had previously raised Rs 38 lakh in angel funding from the Startup India Seed Fund and other investors. Founded in 2024 by Sunny Vaish, Prabal Tomar, and Abhinav Pandey, Prithu is building a full-stack carbon removal platform focused on nature-based solutions (NBS) and climate-positive agricultural practices.
Prithu’s approach integrates regenerative agriculture, agroforestry, biochar, and biogas with blockchain-powered Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) systems. This combination aims to ensure transparency and credibility in carbon credit generation while supporting sustainable farming ecosystems.
With the fresh capital, the startup plans to expand its operational footprint and strengthen its position in global carbon markets. The company has outlined ambitious targets, including sequestering 20 million tonnes of CO₂ equivalent emissions by 2030 and scaling its projects across 5 lakh hectares over the next 12 to 24 months.
In addition, Prithu aims to deepen global carbon credit offtake agreements, secure international partnerships, and explore expansion into new geographies. These efforts come at a time when the voluntary carbon market is projected to grow significantly, with estimates suggesting an increase from $3–4 billion today to $40–50 billion by 2030.
As climate-tech startups continue to attract investor interest, Prithu’s funding highlights the growing focus on scalable, nature-based carbon removal solutions that intersect climate action and sustainable agriculture.
