New Delhi, June 19, 2026: The GreenCo Summit 2026, organized by the CII GreenCo Council at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, brought together policymakers, industry leaders, sustainability experts, financial institutions, and technology providers to discuss pathways for accelerating India’s transition toward a net-zero and circular economy.

Held under the theme “Scaling Net Zero and Circularity: Commitment, Innovation, Collaboration,” the summit focused on industrial sustainability, resource efficiency, clean energy adoption, circular economy practices, and climate resilience.

Mr. R. Mukundan, President, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), emphasized the growing importance of sustainability in business strategy. He said, "The future belongs to companies that place sustainability at the core of their business. In a world increasingly defined by challenges around energy, food and water security, organizations must move beyond compliance and embed sustainability across their operations and value chains. Green companies are not just contributing to environmental progress, they are building the foundation for long-term resilience, competitiveness and economic growth."

A key outcome of the summit was the launch of three industry-led initiatives aimed at accelerating sustainability transformation across sectors.

The CII Material Circularity Guidelines and Certification introduces a framework to help industries assess and improve material circularity at manufacturing facilities, with a focus on resource efficiency and reducing dependence on virgin materials.

The CII Green Supply Chain Coalition for the Automotive Sector seeks to strengthen sustainability practices across automotive value chains by improving transparency, enabling sustainability assessments, and addressing Scope 3 emissions.

The third initiative, the CII Heat Pump Alliance, has been launched to promote energy-efficient heat pump technologies and support industrial decarbonization through thermal electrification and low-carbon energy solutions.

Speaking at the summit, Mr. Jamshyd N Godrej, Chairman, CII Sohrabji Godrej Green Business Centre, said, "Decarbonization is no longer an environmental choice; it is an economic necessity. As India advances its green transition, businesses must move beyond individual initiatives and drive sustainability across their operations and supply chains. Through green energy, resource efficiency, sustainable products and innovation, industry has a unique opportunity to build a more resilient, competitive and future-ready economy."

Mr. Vikram Kasbekar, Chairman, CII GreenCo Council, highlighted the need for measurable action and collaboration. He stated, "Sustainability is no longer just an environmental imperative; it is a strategic business opportunity that enhances competitiveness, resilience and long-term value creation. As global markets increasingly factor carbon performance into business decisions, Indian industry must accelerate its transition through innovation, circularity, green supply chains and collaboration."

The summit also featured discussions on net-zero pathways, sustainable supply chains, water stewardship, circular economy strategies, clean energy transitions, and emerging green technologies.

According to CII GreenCo, more than 1,600 companies across 27 sectors are currently engaged with its sustainability frameworks and initiatives. The newly launched programmes aim to further support industries in scaling climate action, improving resource efficiency, and building resilient business models.
