New Delhi, March 24, 2026: ChangeX, a community engagement platform, has partnered with Google to launch the “Google Udaan India Fund”, aimed at supporting grassroots initiatives and strengthening community development across the Asia-Pacific region.

The fund will initially focus on the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region in India, with plans to expand to selected regions in Thailand and Malaysia. Through this initiative, the partnership aims to support up to 100 community-led projects that focus on upskilling, small business growth, and environmental sustainability.

Managed by ChangeX, the fund will provide financial assistance of up to ₹14 lakh for eligible organisations. Applications are expected to open in the coming months for schools, community groups, and registered organisations, including those with valid FCRA eligibility.

The initiative is designed to empower local communities by enabling them to implement proven ideas and develop context-specific solutions. It will support projects in areas such as AI-powered learning labs, vocational training, and digital literacy to build future-ready skills. In addition, the fund will promote small business development and community entrepreneurship, while also investing in sustainability initiatives such as solar energy adoption, rainwater harvesting, and watershed protection.

Each selected project will be supported by partner organisations working closely with local communities and schools to ensure effective implementation and long-term impact.

The partnership reflects a shared focus on community-driven development and local participation in addressing socio-economic and environmental challenges.

“Through this partnership, we look forward to working with communities across Visakhapatnam, and other communities in Asia, to build practical skills and deliver sustainable initiatives in areas like water stewardship and energy affordability,” said Utaukwa Allen, global head of economic development & data centers at Google. “We are excited to partner with ChangeX, which brings deep experience in supporting community-led action.”

Niamh McKenna, co-founder and head of impact, ChangeX, said, “Together with Google, we’re backing community-led action in Visakhapatnam: drawing on proven ideas, while giving local changemakers the freedom to respond to local needs.”

The “Google Udaan India Fund” aims to strengthen local ecosystems by enabling communities to take the lead in driving inclusive growth and sustainable development.
