Mumbai, July 08, 2025: In a bid to promote sustainable practices and reduce single-use plastic, Godrej Consumer Products Ltd (GCPL) launched the Godrej Magic Ready-to-Mix Handwash Station at Carter Road, Bandra, in partnership with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and the Bhamla Foundation. The initiative was part of the #BeatPlasticPollution campaign held on World Environment Day.
The refill station, launched under the company’s Magic portfolio, encouraged citizens to reuse existing handwash bottles by offering free ready-to-mix refills. A real-time dashboard on-site highlighted the collective plastic savings, with the campaign generating pledges to save over 90,000 grams of plastic annually.
Speaking at the inauguration, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis said, “Godrej has launched a very good handwash. I believe that in every step we take, we should think about how we can reduce our carbon footprint. From that perspective, I feel this step is very important. You all are doing this together, and that’s why I wholeheartedly congratulate you.”
Also present at the event were Nadir Godrej, Chairman and Managing Director of Godrej Industries Group; Goa Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho; and Bhamla Foundation President Asif Bhamla.
The initiative demonstrated how small changes in consumer behaviour—like switching to refillable handwash—can lead to measurable environmental impact. The Godrej Magic Handwash is India's first powder-to-liquid, ready-to-mix handwash, using 50% less plastic, 75% less fuel, and 75% less paper compared to regular handwash formats.
“India faces a mounting plastic waste crisis, with millions of tonnes generated annually and single-use plastics posing the biggest threat to environmental sustainability. At GCPL, we foster a sustainability-first culture, balancing business with environmental and social responsibility. Godrej Magic Handwash is a sustainable innovation… Each refill used is one less bottle in a landfill. By visualizing this impact in real time, we’re turning awareness into action,” said Neeraj Senguttuvan, Head of Marketing – Personal Care, GCPL.
Launched in 2018, Godrej Magic Handwash continues to focus on delivering accessible, eco-conscious products. The refill station initiative represents GCPL’s broader commitment to its ‘Good & Green’ philosophy—bringing innovation, inclusivity, and environmental stewardship together.
