Hyderabad, August 08, 2025: Freshworks, in partnership with Edunet Foundation, has launched the Academy for Careers in Technology (ACT), a new skilling initiative aimed at preparing 12th-pass students from underprivileged backgrounds for careers in the technology sector. The program, based in Hyderabad, is designed to equip students with industry-relevant technical and professional skills, offering a structured pathway into the digital economy.
Launched at CMR College of Engineering & Technology, the program is tailored for students who have completed their higher secondary education but have been unable to pursue further studies due to financial or social challenges. The academy will provide 1,000 hours of immersive training focused on full-stack development, professional readiness, and project-based learning.
In its first phase, 30 students from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have been selected through a structured process that included entrance examinations, student-parent counselling, and a three-week bootcamp that began on July 21. The bootcamp helped assess students’ motivation, discipline, and engagement before entering the main phase of the program. Financial support is being extended to deserving candidates to ensure that economic limitations do not hinder participation.
Speaking at the launch, Nagesh Singh, Chairman, Edunet Foundation, said, “Our partnership with Freshworks reflects our shared belief in the power of education to transform lives. The Academy of Careers in Technology is designed to offer students not just skills, but real-world experiences and career direction. Through this program, we aim to build a new generation of confident, capable technologists – starting Now!”
The training center at CMR College will serve as a hub for industry-aligned education. Students will undergo rigorous project-based learning during the final three months of the program, simulating real-world challenges to ensure they are job-ready upon completion.
Sreedhar Gade, Vice President of Engineering and Responsible AI at Freshworks, said, “The ACT Program reflects Freshworks' long-standing commitment to democratizing tech education and creating pathways for underrepresented communities - something that first started with FSSA. By partnering with Edunet and CMR Engineering College, we’re equipping 30 students from rural and migrant backgrounds with industry-relevant skills through a 15-month intensive program - ensuring they are not just job-ready, but future-ready for India’s evolving tech landscape.”
The initiative aligns with India’s broader digital inclusion goals and adds to Edunet’s mission of expanding livelihood opportunities through technology education. With plans to expand the model beyond Hyderabad, the Academy for Careers in Technology is expected to contribute significantly to building a skilled, inclusive workforce for the future.
