Epsilon Carbon Awarded SA8000 Certification For Outstanding Commitment To Social Accountability

Bengaluru, May 20, 2024: Epsilon Carbon Pvt Ltd has been conferred with the prestigious SA8000 certification from Social Accountability International (SAI) for adherence to the highest standards of social accountability and worker welfare. Epsilon Carbon is the first Indian carbon black manufacturer to be awarded this certification. 

Vikram Handa, Managing Director of Epsilon Group, said, “As a leader in the chemical industry, we are proud to receive the SA8000 certification. We recognize the importance of the well-being of our people at the workplace. The certification is a result of our consistent commitment to social accountability and the well-being of our employees across the organization. The SA8000 certification is our commitment to fair labour practices, respect for workers' rights, and proactive community engagement thereby reflecting our continuous strive to make a positive impact.” 

The certification recognizes Epsilon Carbon's dedicated efforts in ensuring ethical business practices and improving the lives of over 1,800 workers and their families at Epsilon’s township located in Vijayanagar in Karnataka.

Epsilon Carbon, established in 2017, is a global player in the carbon industry, committed to delivering innovative and sustainable solutions. With manufacturing operations in Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha, it is one of the largest exporters of speciality carbon and carbon black globally. Its carbon black facility has an annual capacity of 115,000 metric tons, while the speciality carbon facility has a capacity of 320,000 TPA. It caters to diverse sectors like aluminium, carbon black, tyres and mechanical rubber goods, graphite, speciality and construction chemicals, dyes, pigments etc.  

Epsilon operations have achieved 100% backward integration, utilizing captive feedstock and raw materials from the steel industry. A Zero Liquid Discharge system, it reuses 100% of treated wastewater onsite and 100% of its energy needs are met through recovered waste gases.
