New Delhi, July 17, 2025: CASE Construction Equipment, a brand of CNH, has announced the launch of ‘Project Shilpi’, a corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative aimed at empowering economically disadvantaged youth with technical skills in servicing and maintaining backhoe loaders.
Project Shilpi is designed specifically for unemployed youth, including ITI and diploma holders aged 18 and above, who are unable to pursue long-term vocational training due to financial or logistical barriers. The initiative seeks to address the skills gap in India’s construction equipment servicing sector while contributing to the Government of India’s Skill India Mission and supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities).
“At CASE, we believe in enabling communities through skills that transform lives. Project Shilpi addresses a critical gap in the construction equipment industry by preparing youth with job-ready skills in backhoe loader servicing. Through this initiative, we aim to strengthen India’s technical workforce while empowering individuals to achieve socio-economic independence,” said Ms. Kavita Sah, India CSR Head, CNH.
The programme features a three-month blended learning model beginning with a boot camp, followed by 26 hours of online theoretical lessons and 520 hours of practical, hands-on training. Candidates are mobilized through rural outreach and community engagement campaigns, with regular industry interaction sessions ensuring exposure to real-world servicing environments.
On completion, participants receive third-party external assessments and certifications. The training includes modules on equipment operation, servicing, maintenance, safety protocols, environmental compliance, and customer communication.
By creating a pipeline of certified, job-ready technicians, CASE aims to support the growing demand for skilled workers in India’s construction equipment industry. The initiative also aligns with the company’s commitment to inclusive development through skill-building and community upliftment.
CASE Construction Equipment has been operating in India since 1989 and is a leader in vibratory compaction and a key player in the backhoe loader market.
