Mumbai, August 04, 2025: CitiusTech, a healthcare technology company, has partnered with the Government of Maharashtra’s Cama & Albless Hospital to renovate and expand the Department of Urogynecology into a state-of-the-art center of excellence. The initiative, supported through CitiusTech’s CSR collaboration with Dr. Aparna Hegde and the NGO ARMMAN, aims to improve access to specialized women’s healthcare and create a platform for research and training.
The upgraded department will focus on addressing pelvic floor disorders that impact nearly one in four Indian women, including urinary and fecal incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, and bladder pain syndrome. The facility includes a two-storied center with six clinic rooms and an advanced diagnostics center equipped with technologies such as Video-Urodynamics, Bluetooth-enabled Uroflowmetry, and Pelvic Floor Ultrasound.
Punam Shejale, CISO and Head of CSR & Sustainability at CitiusTech, said, “One-third of all Indian women experience urogynecology issues at some point in their lives, and these often go unchecked. By combining CitiusTech’s deep domain expertise with Dr. Tushar Palve and Dr. Aparna Hegde’s clinical and social vision, we are helping build a public health center that ensures equitable access to high-quality care for women from all walks of life.”
A university-affiliated fellowship program has also been approved by the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS) to train future urogynecologists, further expanding the department’s role in building clinical expertise in the field.
Dr. Tushar Palve, Vice Dean of Government Medical College and Medical Superintendent of Cama & Albless Hospital, expressed his appreciation for the partnership, stating, “We are obliged that CitiusTech has partnered with Cama Hospital to create a state-of-the-art center that will serve the poorest of the poor. We hope more corporates follow this example.”
Dr. Aparna Hegde, Associate Professor (Hon.) and founder of ARMMAN, added, “I returned from the U.S. with a vision to build a center of excellence that delivers world-class care to all, irrespective of socioeconomic background, with dignity and privacy at its core. The Department has top-tier diagnostics and equipment unavailable in most hospitals nationwide. This center is not just about best-in-class treatment; the dream is to develop a hub for cutting-edge research and advanced training.”
The initiative has been years in the making. Dr. Hegde signed an MoU in 2018 with the Department of Medical Education, Government of Maharashtra, to develop the department, which was officially approved in 2023.
“This initiative uniquely reflects our broader commitment to go beyond technological innovation,” said Manoj Balwani, Head of Admin, Procurement, Immigration, and Travel at CitiusTech. “We contributed not just funds, but also our design, technical, and procurement expertise to help create a world-class, sustainable healthcare environment.”
The center stands as a collaborative model involving government agencies, healthcare providers, academia, and the private sector, with the potential to be replicated for enhancing specialized women’s healthcare across India.
