Kochi, May 12, 2025: On the occasion of International Nurses Day, BorderPlus, a workforce mobility platform, announced a ₹10 crore scholarship initiative aimed at supporting Indian nurses aspiring to build international careers. The investment will be spread over the next two years and is intended to help candidates overcome barriers such as exam costs, documentation challenges, and access to professional guidance.
As part of the initiative, BorderPlus also launched its first regional Training & Support Center for nurses in Kochi. The center currently serves over 120 candidates and plans to expand its reach to over 500. It will provide in-person exam preparation, counseling, and documentation support, alongside digital services to reach nurses across Kerala and nearby states. The center will be managed by a local franchisee, with enrollments already underway.
Co-founders of BorderPlus, Mayank Kumar and Ayush Mathur, said, “The global healthcare sector faces a significant nursing shortage, presenting a unique opportunity for India's vast pool of skilled and dedicated nurses. At BorderPlus, our mission is to empower these professionals by providing structured, ethical, and transparent pathways to international careers. This scholarship initiative is a powerful testament to our commitment to supporting Indian nurses in realizing their global aspirations, ensuring they are equipped to make meaningful and valued contributions to healthcare systems worldwide.”
The scholarship program aims to support deserving candidates who demonstrate strong merit, commitment, and a clear career plan. A thorough screening and interview process will be followed to ensure that support reaches candidates with long-term global aspirations.
Through this initiative, BorderPlus seeks to bridge the skilling and support gaps Indian nurses face while also contributing to India’s remittance economy as nurses pursue opportunities abroad.
