New Delhi, July 1, 2024: On the occasion of National Doctor’s Day, the ASSOCHAM CSR Council, through its 'Illness to Wellness' initiative, has recognised and celebrated the exemplary contributions of doctors across India. The initiative, dedicated to promoting health and well-being, highlighted the selfless efforts and dedication of doctors in alleviating pain and suffering in society.

Anil Rajput, Chairperson of ASSOCHAM National CSR Council, expressed gratitude to the medical fraternity, stating, “Doctors are the backbone of our healthcare system, they are there for us in our moments of vulnerability, providing not only medical expertise but also empathy and comfort. Our relationship with the doctors has grown deeper and stronger with each passing year and it is only because of their unwavering commitment and support that the Illness to Wellness campaign has increasingly achieved its set objectives and goals."

He said the devotion of doctors to their patients is steadfast, often sacrificing their own time and comfort to care for them.

"Over the past few years, we have witnessed the extraordinary lengths to which doctors go to protect and heal the communities. The global pandemic has underscored the vital role that doctors play in our lives with their bravery, resilience, and infinite dedication which is indeed nothing short of heroic. Today, we honour their continuous pursuit of medical excellence, as well as their enduring compassion for humanity. In-addition, we recognise the long hours, the sleepless nights, and the emotional toll that comes with the profession- their sacrifices do not go unnoticed, and we are profoundly grateful to them,” Rajput said.

Recognizing the challenges faced by doctors, Deepak Sood, Secretary General of ASSOCHAM, said the unwavering dedication, tireless efforts, and compassionate care of doctors have been the backbone of the healthcare system.

"From bustling cities to remote villages, doctors have tirelessly worked to ensure the well-being of our diverse population. Today, we celebrate their remarkable service and profound impact on the health and happiness of our nation," he said.

Padma Shri Prof (Dr) Sanjeev Bagai, Chairman & Managing Director of Nephron Clinic, New Delhi, highlighted the importance of preventive healthcare, stating that initiatives like 'Illness to Wellness' play a crucial role in promoting public awareness about personal hygiene, health, and vaccination, aiming to prevent chronic diseases across generations.

The paediatric nephrologist further said, "We are looking at wellness as major core area in which we are not only looking at this generation, but the next generation forward."

Dr G C Khilnani, Chairman of PSRI Institute of Pulmonary Critical Care and Sleep Medicine, acknowledged the initiative's role in spreading disease awareness and preventive measures.

As a gesture of appreciation, Illness to Wellness organized a program on June 29, attended by over 80 esteemed doctors, including (Padma Bhushan) Dr TS Kler, (Padma Shri) Dr Randeep Guleria, (Padma Bhushan) Dr S K Sarin, (Padma Shri) Dr Yash Gulati, (Padma Shri) Dr Mohsin Wali, and Dr Rajinder K Dhamija.
