Amazon to Add 50 Ashray Centres, Expand Mobile Vans to Bengaluru

Bengaluru, September 30, 2026: Amazon India has announced plans to set up 50 new Ashray rest centres across India, taking its network of air-conditioned rest facilities for delivery drivers to 200. The company said it is on track to reach 250 Ashray centres by the end of 2026.

The new centres will be added in cities including Bengaluru, Delhi and Mumbai. Amazon has also expanded its mobile Ashray van programme to Bengaluru, making it the fourth city after Delhi NCR, Mumbai and Hyderabad to have the facility. Two mobile Ashray vans were flagged off in Bengaluru in the presence of Sandy Gordon, Vice President, Employee Experience & Relations, Amazon, and Brendan Branon, Vice President of North America (NA) Employee Relations (ER).

"With the festive season driving a sharp increase in deliveries, it's more important than ever that drivers across the industry have access to rest on their routes. Ashray was built on a simple idea — that every delivery driver, whether they deliver for Amazon or not, deserves a clean, cool place to rest during their workday. Expanding to 200 centres and bringing mobile vans to more cities means we can reach more drivers in more cities, right when they need it most. This expansion is part of Amazon India's broader investment of over INR 2,800 crore (~USD 300 million) in 2026 to strengthen associate safety, health, and financial well-being across its operations network," said Salim R. Memon, Director — Operations, Amazon India.

Launched in 2024 in Delhi NCR, Ashray centres are open to delivery drivers across the e-commerce and logistics sector, including those who do not deliver for Amazon. The centres provide air-conditioned seating, drinking water, mobile charging points, clean washrooms, first-aid kits and resting space.

Each centre can accommodate 10–15 people at a time, with free access for up to 30 minutes per visit. The facilities operate throughout the year from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and are located at high-footfall sites such as petrol pumps and commercial spaces.

The mobile Ashray vans provide similar facilities along high-traffic delivery routes, including air-conditioned seating, drinking water, free Wi-Fi and mobile charging points.

Amazon said the Ashray network expanded from its 2024 pilot to 100 centres across 16 cities in 2025. In May 2026, 50 additional centres took the total to 150, alongside the launch of mobile vans in Delhi NCR. With the latest expansion, mobile Ashray vans are now operational in Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Bengaluru.
