New Delhi, June 19, 2026: ACC, in partnership with the Adani Foundation, is supporting rural youth in Karnataka through its Adani Skill Development Centre (ASDC) at the ACC Thondebhavi plant, helping young people develop employable skills and access formal job opportunities.
Located around 80 kilometres from Bengaluru, Thondebhavi has historically faced challenges related to limited employment opportunities despite its proximity to one of India’s major economic hubs. Young people in the region, particularly women, often encountered barriers to employment due to socio-cultural constraints and limited access to skill development opportunities.
To address these challenges, the Adani Foundation established the Adani Skill Development Centre, which provides training in areas such as Data Entry, Retail, and soft skills. The programme aims to equip participants with industry-relevant skills and workplace readiness required in the organised employment sector.
Beyond technical training, the initiative also focuses on community engagement through mentoring sessions, parent counselling, and awareness programmes. According to the Foundation, these efforts have helped build confidence among youth and their families, encouraging greater participation in formal employment opportunities.
As a result, an increasing number of young people from Thondebhavi have begun exploring career opportunities beyond their local communities. During FY25, 114 youth trained through the programme secured employment at Foxconn in Bengaluru, with a reported monthly salary of Rs. 17,552.
The placements represent a significant milestone for many participants, offering their first experience of formal employment and an opportunity to contribute to household incomes while building long-term careers.
The initiative has also contributed to greater acceptance of employment opportunities among families that were previously hesitant about migration or jobs outside the village. The programme has seen growing participation from young women, supported by ongoing engagement with communities and families.
Through the Adani Skill Development Centre, ACC and the Adani Foundation aim to strengthen livelihood opportunities in communities surrounding the Thondebhavi plant by improving access to skill development and employment pathways.
The Foundation stated that the programme continues to focus on bridging the gap between local talent and industry demand, enabling rural youth to access opportunities in the formal workforce and build sustainable futures.
