Adani Foundation and ACC Rejuvenate Water Source in Tikri Village, Boosting Irrigation and Farmer Income

New Delhi, July 14, 2025: ACC, the cement and building materials company of the Adani Group, in partnership with the Adani Foundation, has successfully revitalized a key water source in Tikri village, Himachal Pradesh, under the Dhounkothi-Panjgain Watershed Project. The initiative has significantly improved irrigation access for local farmers by expanding water storage capacity from 3,000 litres to 70,000 litres.

The intervention included the construction of a new tank and the rejuvenation of a nearby step-well. Previously, water scarcity during the summer months had made cultivation during the Rabi season nearly impossible for villagers.

Harinder Singh Thakur, a local farmer, shared the impact of the project: “Irrigation was nearly impossible during the Rabi season. Now, with the new tank and rejuvenated step-well, I’ve been able to irrigate one hectare of wheat and am planning to grow cash crops and vegetables. This has added ₹15,000 to my income and strengthened my family’s security.”

Thakur is one of seven farmers who have directly benefited from the water rejuvenation initiative. The improved water availability is now supporting irrigation during critical farming seasons and contributing to better crop yields and livelihood opportunities.

The project reflects ACC and the Adani Foundation’s broader commitment to sustainable agriculture and water security, especially in regions vulnerable to climate change and seasonal water shortages. By engaging closely with local stakeholders, the organisations aim to foster long-term resilience in rural communities.
