Bengaluru March 05, 2026: Aahwahan Foundation, in collaboration with Nokia, has inaugurated Model Physics, Chemistry, and Biology Laboratories at Government PU College, Domlur, marking the Foundation’s 508th Science Lab initiative. The project aims to strengthen STEM education infrastructure in government institutions and expand access to quality scientific learning for students from underserved communities.

The newly established laboratories are aligned with the PU syllabus and are equipped to support practical learning across all three core science subjects. The Physics Lab includes apparatus and experimental setups covering mechanics, optics, electricity, magnetism and modern physics. The Chemistry Lab is equipped with instruments, reagents and structured workstations to support organic, inorganic and physical chemistry practicals with safety protocols in place. The Biology Lab features microscopes, specimen slides, anatomical models and experimental tools to facilitate experiential learning in botany and zoology.

Designed with proper ventilation, storage, water facilities and safety measures, the labs aim to create a secure and practical learning environment. The initiative seeks to move beyond textbook-based instruction by enabling hands-on experimentation and deeper conceptual understanding among students.

Over 10,000 students from underprivileged families are expected to benefit annually through improved access to laboratory infrastructure, supporting their preparation for board examinations, competitive entrance tests and higher education pathways in science and technology fields.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Mr. Rajesh Krishnan, Head of FPRA Operation; Mr. Sandeep Kumar, Sr. Director – HW Development; Shri Girish Hegde, Director, Finance Controls Compliance at Infinera (now part of Nokia); and Shri Braja Kishore Pradhan, Founder & CEO of Aahwahan Foundation, along with members of the Nokia team, faculty and students.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Rajesh Krishnan stated, “At Nokia, we believe that meaningful access to quality education creates the foundation for inclusive and sustainable growth. These Model Science Laboratories provide students with exposure to facilities that match global standards and empower them with practical skills essential for the future. We are proud to partner with Aahwahan Foundation in nurturing scientific talent and enabling transformative opportunities.”

Shri Braja Kishore Pradhan remarked, “The inauguration of our 508th Science Lab is a powerful testament to our mission of educational equity. Every laboratory we build is a step toward ensuring that socio-economic background does not determine the quality of education a child receives. Through this collaboration with Nokia, we are creating spaces where curiosity is encouraged, innovation is nurtured, and aspirations are strengthened.”

With this initiative, Aahwahan Foundation and Nokia aim to further strengthen public education infrastructure and promote experiential STEM learning within government institutions.
