Kerala, March 25, 2026: Sri Kurumba Educational and Charitable Trust (SKECT), the philanthropic arm of SOBHA Group, has delivered 120 homes under Phase III of its Griha SOBHA initiative, aimed at supporting economically vulnerable women-led families.

With this phase, the total number of homes handed over under the programme has reached 350, including 230 homes delivered in Phases I and II. Launched in 2022, Griha SOBHA aims to provide 1,000 free homes to women-headed families by 2030.

The homes were formally handed over at a ceremony held at Sri Kurumba Auditorium, Moolamcode, in the presence of the Governor of Kerala, Sri Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, along with senior representatives from SOBHA Limited and SKECT.

Each housing unit under the initiative is a 700 sq. ft. 2 BHK home, designed with a focus on durability, safety, and long-term usability. The programme follows a structured selection process prioritising women-headed households from economically weaker sections.

Speaking at the event, the Governor of Kerala, Sri Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, said, “Everybody’s life has a purpose,” emphasizing that the true purpose of life is to share our fortune and earnings with others for the welfare of society. He stated that the charitable initiatives of Sobha Group and Sri Kurumba Educational and Charitable Trust (SKECT) are a model for social responsibility. The Governor noted that sharing has always been part of our culture, though it is not widely practiced today, and society has a rightful share in the wealth we create. He added that the initiative is not just about handing over 120 homes, but reflects the dedication of Sri P. N. C. Menon and his family, who have committed half of their wealth for the welfare of society. "In his closing remarks, he drew inspiration from the Sri Kurumba Trust, emphasizing that serving people is the truest way to serve God."

Mr. P.N.C. Menon, Founder of SOBHA Group, said, “GrihaSOBHA has been designed as a long-term effort to address the lack of secure housing among resource-limited women-led families, particularly in rural communities where this need is most acute. For us, this is not about building homes at scale, but about building them right — with ownership, quality, and permanence. We place strong emphasis on ensuring that each home is constructed to the same standards of durability and design that define SOBHA’s work, while also enabling ownership in the hands of women, which creates long-term security for the family. Our effort is to ensure that every home we deliver provides stability, dignity, and a stronger foundation for families to build their future with confidence.”

In addition to housing, SKECT undertook several community initiatives, including the construction of an anganwadi building with a capital expenditure of ₹82 lakh, restoration of the Idukavu pond with an investment of ₹21 lakh, and the launch of the SOBHA Arogya Sparsham dialysis support programme for 75 patients.

Established in 1994, SKECT continues to work across education, healthcare, housing, sustainability, and social welfare in rural Kerala, delivering services free of cost to beneficiaries.
