New Delhi, March 13, 2025: Social impact NGO Sanmat has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Tribal Welfare Commissioner, Department of Schedule Tribe, Schedule Caste, Minority and Backward Class Welfare, Jharkhand, to support healthcare and livelihood initiatives for tribal communities across the state.
Under the partnership, Sanmat will assist in addressing public health challenges, particularly in hard-to-reach areas across 55 blocks in 13 districts. The NGO will execute various programs while the Tribal Welfare Commissioner’s office will oversee their implementation.
Key Initiatives Under the MoU
Sanmat will focus on healthcare interventions, including:
- Sickle Cell and Epilepsy Elimination – Conducting awareness programs, mass screenings, and treatment plans.
- Healthcare Access – Establishing sickle cell information and treatment centers in 14 welfare hospitals.
- Maternal and Child Health – Supporting mobile medical units to provide health and nutrition services to tribal children, pregnant women, mothers, and the elderly.
Commenting on the collaboration, Amit Kumar Choubey, CEO of Sanmat, said,

Livelihood and Legal Support Initiatives
In addition to healthcare, Sanmat will also focus on:
- Legal Aid & Skill Development for Subjudice Prisoners – Providing legal support and skill training to integrate them into livelihood programs.
- Advocacy Support – Forming a team of 16 advocates with designated space for court practice.
- Tribal Development Fellowship – Supporting state programs without financial assistance from the government.
Ajay Nath, IAS, Tribal Welfare Commissioner, Govt. of Jharkhand, stated:
