New Delhi, October 17 2025: Panasonic Life Solutions India (PLSIND), a leading diversified technology company, marked International E-Waste Day 2025 through its flagship sustainability initiative, Harit Umang. The program focuses on addressing key environmental issues such as e-waste and plastic management, afforestation, biodiversity, and energy conservation.
This year’s International E-Waste Day centered on the theme “Critical Raw Materials”—resources essential for modern technologies and industries. The theme aligns with Panasonic’s global sustainability mission, GREEN IMPACT, which aims to reduce CO₂ emissions by over 300 million tons globally by 2050.
Reinforcing its commitment under the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) framework, Panasonic organized #DiwaliWaaliSafai, a special e-waste collection drive encouraging employees to contribute discarded electronic items from their homes for responsible recycling. The company also extended awareness beyond its offices by collaborating with over 10 institutes, 8 schools, and 2 colleges, engaging students through interactive sessions and exhibitions. Participants learned how critical raw materials are embedded in everyday devices and explored responsible recycling practices through a Gallery Walk and learning modules.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Tadashi Chiba, MD and CEO, Panasonic Life Solutions India (PLSIND), said, “Sustainability lies at the heart of Panasonic’s philosophy and guides every action we take. This International E-Waste Day is a reminder that tackling the global e-waste challenge requires shared responsibility. While Panasonic continues to design for longevity and maximize resource recovery, we urge every consumer to take that critical final step, that is, don’t hoard, recycle. Together, we can close the loop and protect our shared environment for future generations.”
The initiative resulted in the collection of over 500 kilograms of e-waste, all responsibly transferred to authorized recyclers for metal extraction and recovery.
Through Harit Umang and other sustainability initiatives, Panasonic India continues to promote a circular economy and strengthen environmental awareness, aligning with its long-term vision of creating a greener, cleaner future.
