New Delhi, Aug 14, 2024: Over 5,950 rural youth have secured jobs through Hindustan Zinc Limited's flagship CSR program, Zinc Kaushal Kendra, across the country.
The program has provided skill development training for over 7,100 rural youth since its inception in 2019.
Zinc Kaushal Kendra focuses on holistic development, enabling young individuals to secure sustainable livelihoods. By forging strong partnerships with industry and educational institutions, the initiative offers intensive short-term courses in the domain of hospitality, micro finance services, business correspondence, sales & customer relationship management and self-entrepreneurship that bridges the gap between academia and the workplace.
Recently, 76 trainees secured placements in esteemed organizations, embarking on promising career paths that not only support their personal growth but also contribute to the nation's development.
A notable success story from the most recent batch is Deepak Salvi, who was employed by Raxa Security (GMR Group) stated, "I'm truly grateful for the opportunity provided by Zinc Kaushal. Working at Hyderabad Airport, I earn a generous salary, bringing immense joy to my family and reflecting my accomplishments."

The program has demonstrated success in transforming lives with a focus on new-age skill development through its Solar PV lab, preparing youth for future demands. The initiative has organized over 100 exposure visits, benefiting more than 1,600 students with hands-on training. It also offers coaching for government exams at Agucha, Kayad, and Zawar locations, helping over 250 students pursue public service careers.
Beyond skill development, Hindustan Zinc's CSR initiatives have impacted 1.9 million people across 3,685 villages. Programs like Samadhan, Zinc Football Academy, and Zinc Kaushal have skilled 1.3 lakh individuals. Additionally, about 1.4 million women and children have been empowered through programs focused on education, health, water, sanitation, microenterprises, and cultural promotion.
Hindustan Zinc Limited, a Vedanta Group company, is the world's second-largest integrated zinc producer and the third-largest silver producer. The company supplies to more than 40 countries and holds a market share of about 75% of the primary zinc market in India.
