Mumbai, November 12, 2025: Otis India, a subsidiary of Otis Worldwide Corporation, has announced the launch of the sixth edition of its global Made to Move Communities (MTMC) challenge, inviting students worldwide to design Artificial Intelligence-led mobility solutions to support communities during natural disasters.

This year’s theme urges students to develop AI-based innovations that can help communities and first responders prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies. More than 200 students from 18 countries and territories will participate, guided by 150 Otis mentors in creating practical, socially responsible mobility solutions.

Speaking about the initiative, Sebi Joseph, President, Otis India, said, “During natural calamities, reliable vertical mobility becomes critical to ensuring people’s safety and access to essential support. This year’s Made to Move Communities challenge encourages students to blend innovation with compassion, and to see mobility through a humanitarian lens. I’m confident that this initiative will bring forth ideas that solve mobility challenges for such unforeseen situations, while also fostering empathy, collaboration, and real-world problem-solving in the leaders of tomorrow.”

Each participating school will receive a STEM grant between USD 7,500 and USD 35,000 to advance innovation and STEM learning. Regional winners will move on to compete in the global finale.

Since its launch in 2020, the MTMC program has engaged more than 1,000 students and 950 Otis mentors, contributing over USD 1.25 million in STEM grants to participating schools globally.

The program aims to inspire young talent to address mobility barriers within their communities, encouraging creative solutions that can strengthen resilience and build better-connected cities.
