Chennai, September 04, 2025: Marico Limited, through its Parachute Kalpavriksha Foundation, marked World Coconut Day 2025 by organizing multi-city farmer empowerment programs in Tamil Nadu. The initiative, held across Coimbatore, Vellore, Krishnagiri, and Thanjavur, brought together more than 500 coconut farmers for training sessions aimed at promoting sustainable farming practices and improving farmer livelihoods.
The sessions included knowledge-sharing platforms and training modules focused on farm management, digital literacy, financial literacy, and awareness of government schemes. The Foundation also provides farmers with access to expert guidance through its dedicated mobile app and call centre, covering aspects such as weather forecasts, soil health, and water management.
Speaking on the occasion, Amit Bhasin, Chief Legal Officer & Group General Counsel and Secretary of the CSR Committee, Marico Limited, said, “World Coconut Day provides us with an opportunity to reflect on our journey with India's coconut farming community and reaffirm our commitment to their prosperity and our people-first, stakeholder-driven approach. Through Parachute Kalpavriksha Foundation, we have witnessed firsthand how targeted knowledge sharing and technological support can transform agricultural outcomes. This year's multi-city celebrations embody our belief that sustainable agriculture and farmer empowerment must go hand in hand. Each farmer we reach with Parachute Kalpavriksha Foundation today becomes an ambassador for sustainable practices in their community, creating a ripple effect that extends far beyond our direct intervention.”
Since its inception in 2017, the Parachute Kalpavriksha Foundation has enrolled 1.22 lakh farmers covering 4.33 lakh acres by FY25. The program combines traditional agricultural practices with modern technology to help farmers address recurrent issues and improve productivity.
The Foundation’s ongoing initiatives aim to provide farmers with holistic support systems, including training, digital tools, and immediate expert assistance, thereby reducing their dependency on field staff while encouraging self-reliant and sustainable practices.
