New Delhi, December 01, 2025: DCM Shriram Foundation, the philanthropic arm of DCM Shriram Ltd., in partnership with the Bharuch District Administration, organised a three-day exposure visit for Panchayat Secretaries (Talatis) to demonstrate the Zero Waste, Zero Cost rural solid waste management model implemented at Jhagadia Gram Panchayat.
The programme, conducted under the guidance of Bharuch District Magistrate Shri Gaurang Makwana and District Development Officer Shri Yogesh Shivkumar Kapase, brought together 123 Talatis from across the district. The exposure visit aimed to help participants understand practical, scalable sanitation solutions that align with the Swachh Bharat Mission.
Across the three days, participants attended live demonstrations and hands-on learning sessions focusing on:
Household and community-level waste segregation
- Low-cost composting methods
- Decentralised waste processing techniques
- Safe disposal practices suited to rural settings
- A walkthrough of Gujarat’s first Sanitation Park
The programme highlighted how wet and dry waste can be managed through low-cost, community-driven methods that deliver significant social and environmental benefits. The sessions also emphasised behaviour change, community ownership and long-term system sustainability.
Senior district officials, including Dy. DDO (Panchayat) Shri Nikunj Patel, Dy. DDO (Revenue) Shri G. M. Borad, and TDO Jhagadia Shri Dhruv Patel, engaged with participants and underscored the importance of strengthening rural sanitation at the grassroots level.
Representatives from DCM Shriram Foundation facilitated demonstrations and shared operational insights from their ongoing interventions, reinforcing the value of collaborative and replicable sanitation models.
DCM Shriram Foundation said it will continue working with district authorities and village institutions to promote cost-effective, community-led and environmentally sustainable sanitation systems across Bharuch.
