Karnataka, November 03, 2025: Reinforcing its commitment to sustainable and inclusive community development, Canon India has announced the adoption of Sathanuru Village in Karnataka under its flagship ‘Adopt a Village’ initiative, marking the 10th village to join the programme. The initiative focuses on the four core pillars of Education, Eye Care, Environment, and Empowerment, aiming to build self-reliant and sustainable rural communities.
The inaugural event was led by Mr. C. Sukumaran, Senior Director, Product and Communication, Canon India, in the presence of Mr. Mattigowda, Block Education Officer. This adoption marks Canon’s continued expansion in southern India, following successful interventions in Maharaja Katte and Annadodi near Bengaluru.
Under this initiative, Canon India will strengthen educational infrastructure, promote environmental awareness, and support women’s empowerment and healthcare interventions in Sathanuru, aligning with its long-term commitment to community transformation.
Mr. C. Sukumaran, Senior Director, Product & Communications, Canon India, said:“At Canon, we believe real development begins when communities are empowered to shape their own futures. For over 14 years, our ‘Adopt a Village’ initiative has created pathways to education, livelihood, and sustainable progress across rural India. Today, as we mark the landmark 10th village adoption with Sathanuru in Karnataka, we are proud to extend this journey of transformation. In Southern India, villages like Maharaja Katte and Annadodi, near Bengaluru, stand as living examples that access to quality education and sustainable development can inspire self-reliance. With Sathanuru, we reaffirm our commitment to driving long-term community empowerment and nurturing change that will impact generations to come.”
Launched in 2012, Canon India’s Adopt a Village initiative has reached over 300,000 lives through interventions across multiple states, with the active participation of 11,500+ Canon volunteers. Earlier this year, Canon celebrated the successful five-year completion of the transformation journey in Parivali Village, Maharashtra, and the three-year milestone of Nandrampur Bass Village, Haryana—both of which now serve as models for sustainable rural development.
The initiative is aligned with Canon’s corporate philosophy of ‘Kyosei’, which signifies “living and working together for the common good.” Guided by this philosophy, Canon India continues to integrate its business and community goals to foster inclusive growth through education, environmental conservation, and empowerment-driven interventions.
With the adoption of Sathanuru, Canon India continues its mission to build resilient, self-sufficient communities that reflect the company’s belief in creating lasting social impact alongside technological excellence.
