BluPine Energy launches skill development centers for renewable energy projects in Gujarat

New Delhi, 31st January 2023: BluPine Energy, a prominent renewable energy services company in India, is making strides in fostering skill development by inaugurating five advanced training centers. These centers are specifically designed to equip 120 students with the knowledge and expertise required for the installation and operation of utility-scale renewable energy projects.

In collaboration with Probe Research and Social Development, BluPine Energy is directing its efforts towards empowering individuals, particularly those from underprivileged backgrounds. The training initiatives will span across three villages in the Patan and Banas Kantha districts, focusing on solar power, and two villages in the Gir Somnath district for wind power.

According to the BluePin Energy officials, a distinctive feature of these initiatives is the strong emphasis on significant female representation among candidates. BluPine Energy's commitment to gender equality and women’s empowerment in the renewable energy sector is evident in its goal to ensure women have a notable presence in the training programs.

The comprehensive six-month training program has been meticulously curated to provide participants with the essential skills and knowledge required for utility-scale solar and wind power installation and operation. BluPine Energy's course is designed to empower marginalized individuals by focusing on entrepreneurship and enhancing employability for financial independence.

Speaking on thought behind the initiative, Sumit Barat, Chief Sustainability Officer of BluPine Energy, said, "We are witnessing a massive growth spurt in the utility-scale renewable energy sector in India. Last year, over 12 GW of renewable energy capacity were bid out, and the industry anticipates at least 200 GW of additional renewable energy projects to be added to the grid by 2030. Each GW of renewable energy project requires at least a 1,000+ strong workforce to operate and a 2,500+ workforce during construction. Considering this rapid pace of growth in the industry, we expect the demand and supply gap for workers to keep increasing in the coming years. This is our small contribution towards bridging the gap of skilled workforce in utility-scale projects with a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion.”

Neerav Nanavaty, CEO of BluPine Energy, said, “These skill development centres are a significant milestone for BluPine Energy in our journey towards a sustainable future. We are not only investing in renewable energy but also in the stakeholders who will drive this industry forward. Our commitment to include significant women participants in these programs underscores our dedication to gender equality and social empowerment. We believe that by nurturing local talent and providing them with the necessary skills and opportunities, we are laying the foundation for a more resilient and self-sufficient community.”

The officials said that the ultimate objective of the training is to enable participants to become subcontractors in the renewable energy sector. Throughout the program, participants will not only gain technical skills but will also develop key soft skills such as confidence and leadership.
