Zomato Marks International Day of Persons with Disabilities With Campaign Encouraging Customers to Thank Hearing-Impaired Delivery Partners in Sign Language

New Delhi, December 03, 2025: Zomato has launched a new campaign on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (PwD) that encourages customers to express gratitude to hearing-impaired delivery partners using simple sign language gestures. The initiative aims to foster empathy, recognition and inclusive customer-partner interactions on the platform.

The campaign film follows the story of Rakesh, one of more than 1,000 hearing- and speech-impaired delivery partners working with Zomato. It highlights the challenges he navigates and the resilience he demonstrates each day. The film’s closing moments show a young customer thanking Rakesh in sign language—guided by a new tutorial on the Zomato app that teaches users how to express appreciation non-verbally.

Anjalli Ravi Kumar, Chief Sustainability Officer, Eternal, said, “This campaign puts a spotlight on our PwD delivery partners, who show incredible commitment while navigating challenges unique to them. We want to empower delivery partners with disabilities not just by supporting them as they access livelihood opportunities but also through everyday moments of empathy and understanding. Even a small gesture of appreciation can make them feel a little more seen and supported.”

The campaign aligns with Zomato’s efforts to expand dignified and meaningful livelihood opportunities for persons with disabilities. The company supports delivery partners with locomotor, hearing and speech impairments through sensitisation programmes, technology enhancements and tailored support systems. These include higher earning potential per kilometre, specialised fleet-coach training and dedicated grievance-redressal mechanisms.

As of October 2025, Zomato has onboarded more than 5,000 PwD delivery partners, including over 1,000 with hearing and speech impairments, reflecting the company’s ongoing commitment to inclusive workforce participation.
