New Delhi, February 19, 2026: Xiaomi India has launched the ‘Xiaomi Edge – Next Gen Scholar Program’, a flagship CSR-led skilling initiative aimed at training over 30,000 college students across Uttar Pradesh in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Cybersecurity over the next three years.
The announcement was formalised on the sidelines of the Global India AI Impact Summit 2026 at the AI for Better Bharat® Pavilion. The event was attended by Shri Mahip Singh, CEO, Innovation Hub, Government of Uttar Pradesh; Varun Madan, Chief People Officer & Head of Integrated Management, Xiaomi India; and Bhowmik Shah, Trustee of Shri Mahakal Education and Charitable Trust – BharatCares.
The programme will be implemented in partnership with Shri Mahakal Education and Charitable Trust – BharatCares. It marks Xiaomi India’s formal engagement with AICTE and the Government of Uttar Pradesh and aligns with the objectives of the India AI Mission, National Education Policy 2020, Skill India Mission, and Digital Uttar Pradesh.
Under Xiaomi Edge, 10,000 students will be trained annually through structured learning cycles spanning 36 months. The curriculum will combine classroom-based modules, project-based learning, and industry mentorship to address the growing demand for AI and cybersecurity professionals. The initiative aims to drive sustained engagement and measurable improvements in employability rather than one-time interventions.
Shri Mahip Singh, CEO Innovation Hub, Government of Uttar Pradesh, said, “Uttar Pradesh is at a pivotal moment where scale, ambition, and opportunity converge. Initiatives like Xiaomi Edge are vital to translate this momentum into a future-ready talent pipeline, strengthening employability in AI and cybersecurity while accelerating the State’s digital and industrial growth.”
Varun Madan, Chief People Officer & Head of Integrated Management, Xiaomi India, said, “At Xiaomi India, our journey has always been rooted in building long-term value through technology, aligned with India’s growth trajectory. Through Xiaomi Edge, we are investing in India’s youth by expanding access to future-ready skills in Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity, while strengthening institutional capabilities and enabling inclusive participation.
We are grateful to the Government of Uttar Pradesh, AICTE, and our implementation partner, Shri Mahakal Education and Charitable Trust – Bharat Cares for their collaboration in driving scalable, long-term impact. Together, we aim to strengthen India’s position as a global leader in technology and innovation.”
A key component of the initiative is the establishment of an advanced Xiaomi Centre of Excellence at an AICTE-approved government institution in Uttar Pradesh. The Centre is expected to enhance technical infrastructure and promote innovation-driven learning within the state.
Bhowmik Shah, Trustee, Shri Mahakal Education and Charitable Trust – BharatCares, said, “We are proud to collaborate with Xiaomi India on the Xiaomi Edge – Next Gen Scholar Program. Xiaomi’s long-standing commitment to leveraging technology for meaningful impact makes it a strong partner for delivering scalable skilling initiatives. Through structured training and hands-on learning opportunities, the program will equip thousands of young learners with industry-relevant capabilities, with a focus on inclusive access and women’s participation.”
The programme targets 40 per cent women participation and aims to strengthen industry–academia collaboration to ensure students are equipped with skills aligned to evolving technology demands.
