New Delhi, Jun 11, 2025: Vikalp India has announced the launch of its innovative ‘STEAM Lab at Home’ initiative, designed to revolutionize K-12 education by bringing experiential learning directly to students' homes. This program aims to make learning in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) more engaging, hands-on, and relevant for the future. Students are encouraged to establish their own dedicated learning areas at home, which can range from a specific room or corner to an organized outdoor space, depending on available resources.
This initiative seeks to bridge the gap between passive, screen-based learning and the critical need for deeper conceptual understanding. At the start of the academic year, each participating student will receive a DIY kit encompassing Science, social science, and Mathematics. Throughout the year, they will actively engage in creating models, conducting experiments, and gradually building their personal lab spaces with essential tools, charts, maps, props, and graphs, effectively transforming a part of their home into a dynamic learning center.
Dinesh Gupta, Founder & CEO of Vikalp India, emphasized the program's importance, stating, “In an era where automation and AI are reshaping the job market, it is crucial to equip our students with skills that go beyond rote memorization, such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity. The STEAM Lab at Home provides them with a dedicated environment to experiment, learn from mistakes, and develop resilience – a process that enriches both their knowledge and their character.”
The STEAM Lab model is intentionally designed to be inclusive and adaptable to diverse learning environments. Whether a student resides in a large metropolitan city or a smaller town, the structure can be tailored to suit any setting – indoors or outdoors, elaborate or simple – ensuring accessibility for all. The program is also particularly beneficial for students with varied learning styles or physical limitations who thrive in a home-based learning environment.
Within the program, teachers transition from traditional lecturing roles to become facilitators, guiding students through active exploration and inquiry-based learning. This approach has not only demonstrated improvements in academic performance, as indicated by recent assessments, but also cultivates a robust ability to apply classroom knowledge to real-world challenges.
By empowering students to construct and personalize their own learning environments, the initiative fosters self-directed learning and a growth mindset. Parents have observed increased levels of curiosity, initiative, and confidence in their children participating in the program.
As educational systems globally explore models that extend beyond the conventional classroom, Vikalp India’s STEAM Lab at Home emerges as a promising, inclusive, and forward-thinking solution that effectively addresses academic requirements and prepares students for the demands of a rapidly evolving world.
