New Delhi, December 09, 2025: Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest aluminium producer, has announced that 1,800 of its employees collectively dedicated 4,000 volunteer hours—equivalent to nearly 167 days—to community development initiatives across Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh. The announcement was made on the International Volunteer Day for Economic and Social Development, underscoring the company’s growing focus on employee-led social impact.

The initiatives, driven under Vedanta’s “Transforming Communities” philosophy, spanned healthcare, education, skilling, environment and women’s empowerment. Volunteers conducted plantation drives, pond restoration, literacy and digital learning sessions, health camps, skilling workshops and blood donation drives, benefiting more than 7 lakh people across the company’s operational areas.

Rajiv Kumar, CEO, Vedanta Aluminium, said,  “At Vedanta Aluminium, we believe our responsibility extends far beyond our operations. It is about creating meaningful, lasting impact in the communities that make our growth possible. The scale of volunteer participation we’ve seen this year reflects the deep sense of purpose our employees and business partners carry with them. Contributing nearly 4,000 hours of community service is not just a measure of engagement, but a testament to our collective commitment to holistic development.”

The company highlighted several initiatives that have achieved notable outcomes.

  • In Odisha’s Lanjigarh region, grassroots sports programmes have produced young archers competing at national championships.
  • Revival initiatives for traditional Saura and Dokra art forms have enabled artisans to access new markets.
  • In Korba, Chhattisgarh, women trained through livelihood programmes have showcased their products at major exhibitions.
  • Large-scale health camps in Odisha and Chhattisgarh have improved access to preventive care in underserved communities.
  • In Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, digital learning labs established in schools are helping equip youth with technology skills.

Vedanta Aluminium stated that the volunteer movement has evolved from isolated acts of service into a sustained culture of year-round civic engagement. The company aims to continue strengthening local ecosystems through employee participation in health, education, environment and livelihood initiatives, fostering inclusive development across its areas of operation.
