New Delhi, July 15, 2025: On the occasion of World Youth Skills Day, Standard Chartered Bank has announced a new skilling initiative under its flagship community programme, Futuremakers, in partnership with Sambhav Foundation. The project aims to equip 5,160 youth across seven Indian cities with future-ready skills in Electric Vehicles (EV), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Cybersecurity, and Data Analytics.

The three-year programme will operate in Noida, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Tinsukia (Assam), providing job-oriented training in sectors identified as critical to the evolving employment landscape. In addition to technical training, the initiative will offer job placement support to help trainees transition into the workforce.

This marks a renewed partnership between Standard Chartered and Sambhav Foundation. In a previous phase, 2,280 youth were trained in BFSI, Tally, and Data Analysis. The bank has also collaborated with the GTT Foundation to skill 613 youth in the EV sector across Karnataka, Delhi, Maharashtra, and West Bengal.

“At Standard Chartered, through our focused community initiative Futuremakers, we are committed to driving economic inclusion and sustainability by empowering youth with relevant skills to navigate our rapidly changing world. Through this initiative, we are training these youth with the skills of tomorrow and support them with suitable placements on completion of their respective training tenures. By equipping individuals with these in-demand skills, particularly in major economic hubs, we can address immediate industry needs and enhance the long-term employability of vulnerable youth, fostering sustainable economic growth,” said Karuna Bhatia, Head of Sustainability, India, Standard Chartered Bank & Global Business Services.

Under the wider Futuremakers programme, Standard Chartered has trained over 51,000 individuals aged 18–35 in future skills, with women representing 51% of the beneficiaries. The bank aims to scale this impact further through partnerships, expanding skill development programmes, and creating sustainable livelihood opportunities, especially for underserved communities.
