New Delhi, Mar 3, 2025: NIIT Foundation has provided skill-based training to over five lakh students in the third quarter of FY 24-25 as part of its efforts to empower underserved communities across India through meaningful intervention by facilitating education, imparting skills and placing individuals in high quality jobs.

In the quarter ending December 2024, NIIT Foundation achieved remarkable success by certifying 5,28,468 students through their various initiatives. In addition to this, 38,519 individuals were provided financial literacy training. Around 50 percent of these individuals were women, and are now poised to take charge of their families financial planning.

As many as 10,695 children benefited from Hole in the Wall Learning Stations (HiWEL) installed by NIIT Foundation in various slums, and underserved areas. These learning stations have proven that underprivileged children, when provided with quality infrastructure, are willing to learn and utilize their available resources to the full extent possible.

Sapna Moudgil, CEO of NIIT Foundation, said, “The strides taken by  NIIT Foundation  have been exceptional, and we aim to train, certify and place many more youth across the country. We are committed to making India a 100 percent skilled nation by 2047”.

A key part of the initiatives undertaken by NIIT Foundation is to ensure job placement for certified youth. To achieve this, NIIT Foundation has partnered with various companies, and the partnerships continue to grow as new agreements were made this quarter with IBM, Johnson Matthey and United Way Mumbai. These partnerships enabled job placement of 27,321 students. These students have been trained under various programs  focussed on emerging technologies, and other in-demand skills.

Recognizing that today’s job market demands a diverse set of competencies beyond traditional education, NIIT Foundation has undertaken a series of innovative initiatives. The foundation has expanded its curriculum to offer specialized courses in AI & Data Analytics, Digital Marketing, Cyber Security, and Web Designing — certificates that significantly enhance employability and serve as key differentiators during placements. Moreover, NIIT Foundation places a strong emphasis on the development of essential soft skills, such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and critical thinking that are vital for professional success.
