Mumbai, November 29, 2025: Habitat for Humanity India has launched Brick-Aid, a nationwide digital fundraising campaign aimed at expanding access to safe, secure and sustainable housing for vulnerable communities. Announced during the organisation’s 42nd anniversary commemoration, the campaign seeks to mobilise citizens, corporates, philanthropists and volunteers toward building climate-resilient homes “one brick at a time”.
The launch event brought together members of the IndiaBUILDS Advisory Committee, global partners, senior business leaders and celebrity supporters including Mrs. Rajashree Birla, Mr. John Abraham and Ms. Jacqueline Fernandez. The initiative coincides with the 20th anniversary of the IndiaBUILDS Advisory Committee, a collective of business leaders and philanthropists supporting Habitat India’s housing and community development efforts.
Brick-Aid is a virtual giving drive that enables individuals to symbolically donate a brick toward building homes for families in need. Supporters can contribute digitally and encourage others through a peer-to-peer, multi-level giving model designed to create wider participation through social engagement and community mobilisation.
“The Brick-Aid campaign is more than a fundraising effort, it is a collective call to action for building sustainable, equitable communities. Every pledge brings us closer to the vision of housing that not only shelters people but supports their basic standard of living. We are deeply thankful to our IndiaBUILDS Advisory Committee and all our supporters who continue to stand with us on this journey. It is this unwavering support that continues to strengthen Habitat’s mission of building homes, communities and hope across India,” said Mr. Anand Kumar Bolimera, National Director, Habitat for Humanity India.
The launch featured a panel discussion on “Housing for All” with insights from Dr. Niranjan Hiranandani, Mr. Jayesh Shah and Mr. Patrick Canagasingham, moderated by Mr. Dhaval Monani. Dr. Hiranandani noted the government’s recent allocation of ₹60,000 crore each for urban and rural housing, emphasising the opportunities it creates for private sector participation and its alignment with Habitat India’s mission.
At the event, Ms. Jacqueline Fernandez reflected on her association with the organisation and said, “With the Brick-Aid campaign we have a chance to build one brick at a time, one home at a time, one life at a time, together. Because when we build, we don’t build walls and roofs, we create hope, dignity and belonging.”
Distinguished supporters such as Mrs. Rajashree Birla, Mrs. Sheila Kripalani, Mr. Harlan Stone and Mrs. Rajni Basumatary joined the launch, calling attention to the critical need for safe and affordable housing across India.
Over its 42-year journey, Habitat for Humanity India and its network organisations—Micro Build India, the Terwilliger Center for Innovation in Shelter (TCIS) and partner civil society organisations—have impacted more than 97 lakh people through housing, sanitation and disaster response initiatives. More than 78 lakh individuals now live in improved homes supported by Habitat, while over 15 lakh have benefited from disaster resilience and response efforts. Its WASH programmes have reached more than 34 lakh people nationwide.
The Brick-Aid campaign aims to expand this impact by driving collective action and scaling climate-resilient, affordable housing solutions for underserved families across India.
