Bangalore, July 30, 2024: Enabling Leadership, a global non-profit organization with a mission to inculcate essential leadership and life skills in children who come from under-resourced backgrounds, on Tuesday announced the launch of the Enabling Leadership Global Ambassador Program (ELGAP).

This Youth Leadership Development initiative designed for high school students is a 10-month program that focuses on service as a powerful medium to develop essential 21st-century leadership skills, involving mentoring, fundraising, and digital outreach activities.

ELGAP is open to high school students (grades 9-12) who aspire to become future leaders capable of addressing complex issues, fostering true creativity, and thriving in diverse environments. Participants will gain invaluable leadership skills, master frugal innovation, and enhance their college applications. They will also have the opportunity to become LinkedIn Top Voices through their digital outreach efforts and earn recognition as certified EL Ambassadors.

Speaking about this, Ravi Sonnad, Founder and CEO, Enabling Leadership, said, “Our mission is to empower youth to emerge as resilient leaders, instilling critical leadership skills through impactful service activities before they embark on their professional journeys. The program experience and service certificate offer a unique edge in college application essays, opening doors to prestigious universities. Participants will also build a global network of talented individuals dedicated to making a positive impact on the world.”

ELGAP's activities are tailored to help students manage diversity, make decisions amidst ambiguity, innovate frugally, and inspire others by example. Participants will develop empathy, resilience, effective communication, and problem-solving skills, preparing them to thrive in a dynamic and fast-changing work environment driven by technological advancements and an increasingly global workforce.

By joining ELGAP, students also become part of a global network with a common purpose, establishing life-long connections for professional and personal growth. They will contribute 40 hours of service throughout the program, divided into three main components: Skill-Based Mentoring (20 hours); Fundraising (10 hours); and Digital Outreach (10 hours).

The program offers three verticals—FOOTBALL (SOCCER), LEGO, and MUSIC—allowing participants to choose based on their skills and interests. Each participant will mentor a group of 10 underserved students, helping them improve their skills and succeed in their competitions. The first cohort of ELGAP will commence on August 5, 2024.

Enabling Leadership is committed to equipping children aged 9-15 in government and low-income schools with essential leadership skills. These encompass problem-solving, creativity, analytical thinking, collaboration, ethics, action, and accountability, all imparted through the fun and creative mediums of football, music, and Lego building blocks. EL’s programs are designed to bring impact at scale. Presently, EL's programs reach over 10,000 children across 120+ schools in 5 cities and 45 villages across India. Over the past 3 years, EL has significantly expanded its footprint, venturing into Cambodia, Kenya and Singapore, where there are now 1,500 students in EL’s programs, thereby extending the organization's transformative impact on a global scale.
