Amritsar, January 23, 2025: Ambuja Cements and ACC, part of the Adani Group, have launched the ‘Kaabil Sarpanch’ initiative in collaboration with MyFM to honour the efforts of village sarpanches in driving sustainable community development in Punjab.

The programme evaluated 50 villages across Bathinda, Sangrur, Mansa, and Barnala districts based on parameters such as infrastructure, cleanliness, essential services, and community happiness. Out of these, 13 sarpanches were recognised for their outstanding leadership and transformative contributions, including projects to improve village amenities, promote health awareness, and foster community unity.

In Sangrur, for example, a sarpanch led a waste management initiative that improved cleanliness and the quality of life for residents. Ambuja Cements and ACC also engaged with the communities through activities like street plays focused on substance abuse, promoting sustainable living and health.

The initiative concluded with a felicitation ceremony in Amritsar, where the selected sarpanches were honoured for their leadership. Speaking about the initiative, representatives from Ambuja Cements and ACC reiterated their commitment to empowering rural India and supporting grassroots leaders to drive positive change.

According to Ambuja Cements and ACC, the ‘Kaabil Sarpanch’ programme reflects their ongoing efforts to support grassroots leaders and foster the progress of rural communities, with the aim of empowering villages to actively contribute to national development.
