New Delhi, December 16, 2023: Tata Power organized its Annual Flagship Event 'UrjaMela' on National Energy Conservation Day, drawing participation from 700 students and teachers across 15 states in India where the company operates.
Held at Tata Power’s learning and development center in Rohini, New Delhi, the event aimed to nurture young leaders as catalysts for change in community climate initiatives, aligning with Tata Power’s 'Sustainable is Attainable' movement.
Focusing on climate awareness, UrjaMela is an integral component of Club Enerji, Tata Power's initiative to cultivate young clean energy ambassadors in collaboration with schools nationwide. Since its inception in 2007, this movement has empowered students to become responsible citizens and proactive leaders, reaching over 1000 schools across 15 states. It aspires to extend its impact to more than 5,000 schools by FY28.
In line with Tata Power’s commitment to sustainable development, UrjaMela aimed to raise awareness about energy conservation through engaging activities such as quizzes, drawing competitions, and science model exhibitions under the theme ‘Conserving for Tomorrow.’ These activities aimed to shape young leaders in climate action, fostering their role as catalysts for change in their communities to drive broader climate initiatives.
Tata Power, emphasizing clean energy and sustainable development, uses UrjaMela as a platform to encourage energy-saving practices and efficiency improvements. Club Enerji, a global Edison award-winning initiative, has been a key driver for Tata Power's vision since 2007, engaging the younger generation to instigate societal and behavioral change in energy consumption and natural resource conservation.
To introduce a phygital learning approach, the event also marked the launch of the updated Club Enerji Conservation Module, a curated booklet with engaging content on clean energy sources and climate conservation awareness. The booklet includes QR codes leading to DIY audio-visual content, promising a fully immersive learning experience for the children.
As part of its 'Sustainable Is Attainable' Campaign, Tata Power recently launched a film titled 'DuniyaApneHawale,' featuring children as protagonists. The film promotes the message 'Embrace Mother Earth. Love Our Planet. Switch to Green and Clean Energy.'
