Indus Towers celebrates digital education success through flagship program Saksham

New Delhi, August 24, 2023. Indus Towers Limited, under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) flagship program Saksham, honoured 40 beneficiaries for completing the Digital Education course offered through the Digital Transformation Van (DTV) Program in New Delhi. The initiative focuses on promoting digital education, skills, and internet access for rural and semi-urban communities in the region. Notably, this session witnessed enthusiastic participation from all women in Delhi. The felicitation event took place at Jyoti Nagar Police Station, North East Delhi, with Dr Joy Tirkey, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), North East Delhi, gracing the inaugural as the Chief Guest. Dr.Tirkey shared insights and praised the joint efforts of Indus Towers and NIIT Foundation.The 20-seater solar-powered Digital Transformation Van (DTV) acts as a mobile digital classroom, equipped with advanced computing and printing technology, software, and e-learning tools. It serves to empower underprivileged urban and rural communities with essential technology skills. The program encompasses five core components: digital literacy, IT education, Cyber Security/IoT development, video conferencing consultation, and mass literacy programs.

Dr Joy Tirkey, DCP, North East Delhi said, “I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Indus Towers for their commendable initiative in empowering digital skill development through DTV. Their dedication to providing access to rural and semi-urban communities in Delhi is truly inspiring and is bridging the digital divide and empowering individuals especially women”.

The DTV program has provided digital literacy training to a diverse group of individuals aged 14 to 60, including school-going children, women, Self Help Groups, homemakers, entry-level employees, farmers, and adults seeking to enhance their digital literacy skills.Since its launch in 2018, the DTV program aligns with the National Digital Literacy Mission and has significantly contributed to promoting digital literacy, education, and access to online services. Having successfully reached communities in Delhi, Dehradun, and Bhopal, the initiative has benefited over 1.6 lakh individuals through its video-based educational programs.
