Chennai, October 09, 2025: HungerBox, India’s leading institutional foodtech platform, has partnered with the Great Lakes Institute of Management to launch ‘Bin to Bite’, a campus-wide sustainability initiative aimed at promoting responsible waste management and recycling. The campaign encourages students and staff to transform recyclable waste into rewards, fostering long-term habits of environmental responsibility.

The inaugural event featured a sapling plantation ceremony led by the institute’s leadership and set up collection stalls for different waste categories, including paper, plastic, e-waste, and metal. Participants received food vouchers, saplings, and eco-goodies as incentives for contributing to the drive. The initiative will continue with monthly or bi-monthly collection drives at canteen, hostel, and library kiosks, alongside awareness activities such as quizzes and talks to keep the community engaged.

Speaking about the initiative, Mr. Sandipan Mitra, Co-Founder & CEO of HungerBox, said, “At HungerBox, we believe technology and sustainability can go hand in hand. Through our partnership with Great Lakes on the ‘Bin to Bite’ initiative, we’re taking this belief beyond digital cafeteria management—towards building a culture of responsibility and conscious living. Together, we’re making small but meaningful changes that reduce waste, promote recycling, and inspire communities to care for the environment.”

Col. Ranjan Prabhu (Retd.), Director Administration, Great Lakes Institute of Management, added, “At Great Lakes, we see sustainability not as a choice, but as a way of life. With our ‘Bin to Bite’ initiative, we’re making it easy for students and staff to turn the everyday act of recycling into a habit that truly matters. Each piece of waste that gets recycled is more than just trash kept out of a bin—it’s a step toward saving resources, cutting down waste, and keeping our surroundings clean. Our goal is simple: to build a campus that doesn’t just talk about sustainability but lives it and carries this spirit forward and shapes a future where caring for the planet comes naturally.”

The ‘Bin to Bite’ campaign aims to significantly reduce waste sent to landfills, conserve natural resources, and integrate circular economy principles within the campus community. Regular impact reports will track waste collection volumes and environmental benefits, helping sustain engagement and accountability.

Headquartered in Bengaluru, HungerBox manages more than 900 cafeterias across 38 cities, offering digital cafeteria management solutions to corporates, tech parks, and educational institutions.
