CyberPeace and InMobi Join Forces to Drive Digital Literacy, Cybersecurity, and Capacity Building Initiatives

New Delhi, October 5, 2024: In a pioneering move to bolster digital literacy and cybersecurity across cohorts in India, CyberPeace Council and InMobi has announced a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at promoting safer digital practices and empowering individuals with critical cyber skills to mark the beginning of Cybersecurity  Awareness Month. The partnership, as part of the InMobi and Glance For Good initiatives, brings together CyberPeace’s expertise in cybersecurity and digital safety with InMobi’s global leadership in technology and innovation.

This collaboration aims to be a key lever for InMobi For Good and Glance For Good initiatives, which harnesses the InMobi ecosystem and Glance lock screen content platform to drive positive social impact across stakeholder groups, especially the youth. The initiative aims to reach millions of smartphone users directly via bite-sized, impactful content, promoting digital literacy, online safety, and cybersecurity awareness. By leveraging Glance’s interactive and immersive user experience, this initiative will engage communities in underserved regions, encouraging responsible digital practices and building a safer, more informed digital society.

Dr. Subi Chaturvedi, Global SVP, Chief Corporate Affairs and Public Policy Officer, InMobi,  said, "As a technology leader, we recognize our responsibility to contribute to the safety and security of the digital ecosystem. This partnership with CyberPeace allows us to leverage our resources and expertise to drive meaningful change in cybersecurity awareness, skilling, and digital literacy in addition to building trust and integrity. While our primary focus is to build capacities of youth, small and medium businesses, with our sizeable reach, we aim to reach millions of users across the country for a fully connected and empowered Digital India."

The partnership between CyberPeace and InMobi will deliver several initiatives including digital literacy and awareness campaigns, capacity building and upskilling/reskilling,  volunteer programs, netizen engagement and cyber safety programs, research and innovation lab for cybersecurity and employee engagement.

Speaking about the MoU, Major Vineet Kumar, Director, CyberPeace Council, said, "In an increasingly digital world, empowering citizens with the knowledge and tools to protect themselves online is critical. This collaboration with InMobi marks an important step toward creating a more secure digital environment for everyone, particularly those who are most  vulnerable."

In 2023, 79 Million Cyber Attacks were recorded in India and ranked as the third-largest country globally for phishing attacks after the US and the UK, with its technology sector facing nearly 33 per cent of all such strikes, marking it as the most targeted industry. Cybersecurity awareness has become one of the most important aspects of capacity building going forward.
